About Our Convivium
Slow Food Vancouver is part of the Slow Food International Movement, an association of over 80,000 members in over 100 countries.
Our group is an extremely active and rapidly growing mix of food enthusiasts - both amateur and professional. Members share interests in expanding knowledge of local “tastes”, traditions and exploration of the food products grown and crafted by local artisans. Our group is not only interested in experiencing the pleasures of good food and drink, but also preserving them through public awareness.
In the past year our activities have included: monthly tasting workshops, trips to local farms, weekend excursions to the Caribou, Vancouver Island, Cowichan Valley and the Southern Okanagan, as well as the creation of our Slow Food library dedicated to the cuisine and traditions of the Pacific Northwest. We have also enjoyed Convivium dinners with guest winemakers and local chefs and a Christmas baking exchange.
Our political commitments are geared toward ensuring local businesses and producers, as well as events and initiatives organized by our group and others, are well supported, both by Slow Food Vancouver and the public.
