Agassiz Cycle Tour
August 22, 2009
A Slow Food Cycle Event
Come to Agassiz (6km South of Harrison Hot Springs) to participate in a self-guided bicycle ride following the popular Circle Farm Tour. Embark on a leisurely cycle and learn more about local food production. On the cycle tour, you will get to learn about local food productions, taste some of the delicious food products produced close to home, and get to know your local farmers. Some farms will be open to the public on this day only!
The self-guided tour begins at the Fall Fair Grounds in Agassiz where you’ll receive an event brochure and map you can follow to the various farm locations. There are ten stops on the route through the tranquil rural area of Agassiz-Harrison Mills, and you can take the tour as fast or as slow as you like.
Many stops will feature special events, guided tours around specialty farms, and most farms will provide an opportunity to sample or purchase their products that may include herb-inspired delicacies, chocolates, hazelnut treats, vinegars, unique vegetables, artisan cheeses, and many other food items.
An optional delicious, locally-prepared, slow food lunch will be offered for $10 along the cycle tour route. (You can sign-up for lunch during online registration!)
The cycle tour runs from 9am – 4pm. Get on your bike with family and friends; come to Agassiz to enjoy the spectacular scenery, and to meet the Agassiz farmers who provide us with healthy, locally grown food. After the tour, enjoy a swim in nearby Harrison Lake!
Come for the day or stay for the weekend! A variety of wonderful accommodations and romantic getaways can be found in the area, from the Harrison Hotsprings Resort, to nearby Provincial and private campgrounds, to cozy bed-and-breakfasts (click on ‘Where to Stay’ on the left of this page). The following day, join us for the relaxing Chilliwack Cycle Tour where you will experience a variety of new farms and food offerings and enjoy more stunning scenery.
