Coffee Roasting and More…

Dan Laurenson and Lynda Scobie invite you to drop by and see how diverse and fun, small acre living can be. Featuring the Flour Peddler, Cedar Isle Farm, a harpist and a cellist, a Raw Vegetable and Fruit Plate, garlic and more.

Dan and Lynda grow numerous varieties of garlic, from Russian Red to Music, 18 varieties in all! There are chickens and goats to feed and a huge family garden.  Extra vegetables from the garden are offered for sale, as available, and eggs when their chickens can keep up. Out in the barn they have antiques and collectibles and other fun items for home or garden décor.  Lynda has been a full time potter for the last 30 years and a willow basket maker for 20 years, so be sure to check out the studio and showroom.

Dan is a full time artisan coffee roaster, offering certified organic and estate coffees.  He works with an antique Royal #5 roaster dating from 1919.  There’s always coffee on to sample. Situated in a rural setting close to Harrison Hot Springs with trees, character buildings, animals and ongoing garden projects makes this a fun and relaxing experience.

This year for the Slow Food Bike Tour we will be again offering a raw Vegetable/Fruit plate for $4.00. Everything will be fresh from our gardens and local Agassiz growers.  Harpist, Mary Murphy will be back to serenade you from 11am. to 2pm and cellist Alex Robinson, of the Chilliwack Metropolitan Orchestra will play from 2pm to 4pm. Experience roasting your own coffee using a 1909 sample roaster then grind it yourself on a 1890’s double wheel grinder.  There is limited time and space for the roasting, but it will still be fun to watch. We will also introduce you to some wonderful locally grown grain.  The Flour Peddler, (Chris Hergesheimer) will demonstrate his human-powered grain mill, producing fresh, whole grain wheat flour from wheat grown at Cedar Isle Farm, Agassiz, BC.  Several varieties of the locally-grown grain plants will be on display, and whole grain wheat flour will be available for sale.
