Starting at the Fall Fair Grounds in Agassiz (FITNESS ACTIVITY CENTRE) after breakfast prepared by Kilby Farms and perked up with a Back Porch Coffee, there was a self-guided leisurely cycle around a 25 km flat route visiting farms and meeting farmers.  Stops featured special events, guided tours, samples, taste plates to purchase and a wide variety of fresh and food products available to purchase and take home.  The ‘shopping shuttle service’ was most helpful as panniers only hold so much.

Coming for the day and mostly from Vancouver, slow cyclists enjoyed great accommodations and romantic getaways in the area, from the Harrison Hotsprings Resort, to nearby Provincial and private campgrounds, to cozy bed-and-breakfasts (click on ‘Where to Stay’ on the left of this page). The following day, they joined us for the relaxing Chilliwack Cycle Tour where they experienced a variety of new farms,  food offerings and spectacular scenery.

Tour Date:  August 22nd, 2009 (rain or shine)

Times:  9am – 4pm (arrive and leave at your leisure!)

Price:  Adults $10/day or $15/both days (includes detailed event brochure and cycling maps and some tastings along the way). Children 12 and under are FREE!  Net proceeds from this event, along with donations to our Adopt-a-Farmer campaign, will go towards sponsoring two young farmers to attend Terra Madre 2010. BC is under-represented at this event and we have some of the best agriculture land and water with farmers with amazing expertise, knowledge and experience.  Let’s send one youth farmer for each of our food communities..
