Nathan Creek Organics
April 18
Stephen Gallagher has spent much of his adult life looking for a healthier way to do business. The collaborative nature of community supported agriculture suits him and Nathan Creek Organic Farm (owned by Stephen Gallagher and Ingrid Northwood) has been selling shares of the crop and offering working shares (you work on the farm in exchange for vegetables) for over six years. “Growing organic food is my own personal food policy,” Stephen says. If having a direct connection with the person who grows your food appeals to you, then speak with Stephen and learn how you can buy a share of his crop.
Nathan Creek Organic Farm has been running the largest and longest running CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) in the Lower Fraser Valley of British Columbia. The Farm has relocated its operations to a beautiful 40 acre piece of land (20 acres of second growth forest) outside of Langley City, (approximately 25 miles east of Vancouver). During the last 9 years, this CSA has served 60-90 families on 2-3 acres.
In 2009, after nine years of operation as a farmer run CSA and with the assistance of the newly formed KALE CSA Society (Keep Agriculture Local and Empowered), Nathan Creek Farm entered into an agreement with The Land Conservancy of British Columbia to lease an abandoned in ground, organic tree farm in Langley to develop the 40 acre property into a whole farm, member owned CSA. Come meet Stephen at Bike the Blossoms and learn more about Community Supported Agriculture (CSA).
