Southlands Farms

Come meet the Maynard family of Southlands Farms. This farm is a small-scale, family run market garden within the Southlands community of Vancouver. They produce fresh, chemical-free fruits, veggies, eggs and herbs. They also have seedlings and compost available.
Southlands Farms aims to provide high-end, local foods to local, socially aware consumers through their weekly “urban farmers’ markets”. In this way they hope to encourage sustainable urban agriculture with the ultimate goals of promoting food security throughout Vancouver, and maintaining the rural, agricultural lifestyle in the Southlands community.
Southlands Farm was conceptualized in the spring of 2008, and immediatly raised beds were built, orchards planted, and ditches dug. The vision was to intensively farm the family backyard in a sustainble way to demonstrate to neighbours that true food security is possible within the city. They hope to encourage others in the community to do the same and sell or share their surplus at their weekly market.
