Merle’s Eatery

August 22, 2010

On Slow Food Cycle Tour Day this year, we are pleased to have the Chef de Cuisine and Owner of Merle’s Eatery preparing a fine menu selection showcasing the home-grown, all-natural Angus Beef from the farm at Greendale Pottery.  Starting at 11:00am, Merle will be offering an exciting array of delicious canapés and light snacks.  As you sample the fine fare, relax at the picnic tables or on the blankets they’ll have out on the lawns, take in the ambience of the farm and enjoy the music of their guest flutist!

MERLE’S MENU at the farm of Greendale Pottery during the cycle tour:

Carpaccio with brandy mushroom reduction over a bed of organic greens - $5.00
Dukkah Beef Skewers - marinated beef in honey, wine & mustard rolled in hazelnuts & coriander seed and served with a tahini dip - $2.00
Black Angus Sliders - charbroiled mini burger grilled & served with balsamic onion relish - $2.00
Greendale Angus Chili - no beans here just slow roasted Black Angus with Fraser Valley tomatoes and seasoning - $2.00
Vegan Veggie Skewers - all local grilled seasonal veggies - $2.00
Orange Rooibos Ice Tea - $1.00

Merle’s Eatery is an unassuming bistro in the heart of Sardis tucked away from the noise of the street. Chef de Cuisine, Owner/Operator Merle has a commitment to food, shopping local and imagination. Fresh ingredients are purchased daily and prepared to order. There are great salads, fresh ocean wise fish offerings, delicious unique sandwiches, inventive burgers and creative daily specials.

Merle offers dishes that you probably won’t find elsewhere in town. The only thing that goes in her deep fryer is hand cut Fraser Valley Potatoes. Don’t ask for gravy cuz there isn’t any. Ketchup is also a dirty word but if you must it is available.

For those with allergies Merle’s is one of the very few places in town where you can have a worry free meal. You’ll find creatively prepared dishes for patrons who have Celiac disease, lactose & wheat intolerances or Diabetes. Merles in-house dressings and preserves are allergy & diabetic friendly.

Merle’s Eatery was the Chilliwack Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award Winner for Casual Dining in 2008, and was twice again nominated and one of the top 3 finalists in 2007 and 2009!   Check it out and find out why!
