Slow Food Vancouver Summer Cycle Tours

This summer, Slow Food Vancouver is offering two Slow Food Cycle Tours in the Fraser Valley.  The 3rd annual Cycle Tour Agassiz will be held on Saturday, August 22nd and the 1st annual Cycle Tour Chilliwack will be held on Sunday, August 23rd.  It’s going to be a wonderfully s-l-o-w weekend!

The Fraser Valley is unique with its perfect climate, soil, and water conditions for agriculture.  The agritourism potential combined with the ethnically diverse producers, processors, and retailers make the Slow Food Cycle Tours a wonderful opportunity to become familiar with an important resource - food!
 
Come to Agassiz (6km from Harrison Hot Springs) and Chilliwack to participate in the self-guided bicycle rides.  You will get to experience and taste local food products produced close to home, while getting to meet your local farmers.

This educational and culinary adventure explores several farms; some that are open to the public for this day only!  The tours give a rare chance to learn about agriculture in BC (and specifically, the Fraser Valley). You will visit a bee farm, a commercial goat and dairy farm, produce farms, an ice cream maker, a commercial blueberry farm, and other hobby farms. New for 2009 is the introduction of a $10 lunch option at a designated scenic stop along the cycle route.

Agassiz and Chilliwack will feature farms that are unique to their areas so be sure to sign up for both cycle tours and spend the weekend at one of the comfortable Valley accommodations.

The cycle tours run from 9am – 4pm.  Meals, some tastings, and refreshments will cost a small amount of money.

Both Slow Food Cycle Tours are perfect for families. The routes are around 25km and relatively flat. And best of all, kids 12 and under can-take part free of charge!
