The Fraser Valley, with its rich soil and abundant rain fall, is considered to have some of the best growing conditions in the world. This area comprises only 3 percent of farmland in the province of British Columbia, but produces over half of the province’s agricultural revenue.
The flat country roads that crisscross through Chilliwack and Agassiz make a for a perfect cycling territory. The area is perfect for families with small children on trial-a-bikes, or for those who prefer a gently ride. In August, the fields are lush with corn and produce is abundant.
Along the 25 km self-guided family oriented route with up to 10 designated stops at farms to meet the farmer and their produce or animals, possibly eat samples of their product prepared by a cook/chef, and even, at some stops, listen to musicians. While enjoying the farm stops, you will also learn about how they produce the food you buy and eat. These events create a culinary culture that tie together our land with the co-producers to the farmers and the food they produce in a very unique and fun way. Many of the farms visited are open only for this day and are not part of other events.
Come for the weekend. Stay in Harrison or Chilliwack. Book now!
