August 26th - 6th Annual Tomato Potluck Picnic

Tuesday, August 26, 2008

The return of a favourite . . .

We’re hoping for perfect weather to bless the 6th annual Slow Food Tomato Potluck Picnic.  The event is planned a little later than usual as the tomato growing season started out later than usual this year.

Tomato - a favourite fruit

Slow Food members and friends enjoyed a “Growing Heritage Variety Tomatoes” event in May learning how to grow some of their own tomatoes and other garden veggies.  Come share some of your tomato harvest at this summer’s 6th Annual Slow Food Tomato Potluck Picnic.  Each potluck dish is prepared using tomato as a primary or secondary ingredient.  It’s a tomato lover’s feast!

Where:  at the north end of Kitsilano Beach
Time:  6:30pm
Bring: your own plates, cutlery etc., and blanket or beach/lawn chair

Last year we were treated to a beautiful evening and a spectacular sunset at our new venue for the picnic. We were even entertained by a group of Morris dancers nearby. The dishes were, as always, delicious and inventive, and they showcased the August bounty that is the BC tomato.  Come join us at the 2008 edition of the picnic!
