Terra Madre Day
December 10
Celebrate eating locally and raise the profile of good, clean and fair
Terra Madre Day Around the World…
Join us on December 10 when the global Slow Food network comes together to promote good, clean and fair food:
* Small-scale farmers, producers, cooks, students, and members using their creativity and knowledge to build a better food future.
* Action to strengthen communities, because a global food revolution begins from local roots.
* More than 1150 events in over 120 countries in 2010.
To Support Terra Madre Day you can:
• Print and display the poster or other resources on the slowfood.com page
• Host a potluck or a convivial dinner
• If you are a chef or cook, offer a menu item in tribute to our farmers and eating local.

Potluck: Slow Food is for children too!
Several families in the Dunbar neighborhood will get together for a ‘local foods’ potluck with their pre-schooler children (ranging between 1 year to 4 years old). On the menu: squash soup, roasted carrots, apple sauce, home-made bread and cheeses, and fruit preserves (made at a group canning session earlier in the fall). The potluck is organized by Karen Le Billon, a teacher, PhD, and blogger about food politics, France, and parenting (karenlebillon.com). Her latest book will be published by HarperCollins in April 2012, and is titled: “French Kids Eat Everything: How our family moved to France, cured picky eating, banned snacking, and learned 10 simple rules for raising happy, healthy eaters.”
