Slow Food is Good, Clean and Fair

Click to Join Slow Food Slow Food is like the greenpeace of food.  We are an international organization building a network of small-scale sustainable farmers.  A recent UN report says,  “small-scale farmers can double food production in ten years using simple farming methods.”  And that we must increase global food production by 50 - 70% to meet the needs of the planets’ growing population expected to reach 9 billion by 2050.

Terra Madre   gives a voice and visibility to the small-scale farmers, breeders, fishers and food artisans around the world whose approach to food production protects the environment and communities. The network brings them together with academics, cooks, consumers and youth groups to work together to improve the food system.

Slow Food Vancouver wants to help send more small scale farmers to Terra Madre 2012 and also to host Terra Madre Canada.

In 2011, Slow Food Vancouver offered two Slow Food Cycle Tours in the Fraser Valley.  The Cycle Tour in Agassiz was held on Saturday, August 21st and the Cycle Tour in Chilliwack was held on Sunday, August 22nd.  Close to 1,700 people participated in these events, and many people stayed the weekend.

Visit the Agassiz Cycle Tour Site and the Chilliwack Cycle Tour Site for more information.

Spend the weekend and do both tours.  Agriculture in Agassiz and Chilliwack are very different as the tour will highlight different farms.
