Vitamins & Minerals
Walnuts have been venerated throughout history and in many cultures. In fact, North America’s aboriginal people were eating walnuts over 14,000 years ago!
Maybe it’s because they are so good for you - walnuts contain numerous vitamins and minerals, including vitamin E, thiamin, vitamin B6, folate, magnesium, copper and zinc, and they are a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids.
In BC, walnuts are grown in the Lower Mainland, in the Okanagan, and on Vancouver Island. Look for freshly harvested walnuts at your local farmers’ market this month.
